The Ozette Trail
Last week my family and I walked 11.0 miles on the Ozette trail. We started on a steep boardwalk that was 3.2 miles long. In my opinion it was the second longest trail. Even though the boardwalk was the longest trail, the beach took the most time to get across. After the long, long boardwalk we found a little campsite/picnic table and ate lunch there, enjoying the scenic view. The beach was very hot one minute and windy the next. The beach was originally 3.0 miles long, but we walked an extra mile. 200 years ago there was an Indian village that got swept away by a mud slide. When some people were walking on the beach they noticed something sticking out of the mud. They called scientists and they dug out the entire mud slide and found artifacts from the Indians. We went to go look at the spot the village was at and that was another mile. So instead of walking 3.0 miles we walked 4.0 miles. The last part of our walk was a nice little boardwalk that was nicer than the other trails. At the end of our journey we had walked 11.0 miles. To celebrate we had ice cream!
